Cubs Calendar: March 31, 2003

The Cubs clobbered the New York Mets 15-2 on opening day at Shea Stadium. Kerry Wood earned the win for the Cubs over battered Mets’ pitcher and future Hall of Famer Tom Glavine. Corey Patterson was the hero of the day with a 4-6 performance that included two home runs and seven runs batted in. Those seven runs batted in set a major league baseball record for most ever in the month of March.
