The Cubs squeaked by the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 at Wrigley Field in front of 4,716 fans. Cubs’ starting pitcher Dick Ellsworth threw a nine inning complete game and earned the win. Ellsworth gave up three runs on 14 hits in the contest. Dodger starter Don Drysdale lasted seven innings and surrendered four runs to take the loss. Third baseman Ron Santo put the Cubs up for good with a home run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cubs’ part-time catcher Vic Roznovsky also homered off of Drysdale.
